A Change is Gonna Come.

Over at Bryan Appleyard’s excellent blog he talks about Gordon’s Brown obsession with the word ‘Change’. In almost every speech he rattles on about it as though change is the ultimate goal in politics. It reminded me that it cannot be long before we have a Labour commercial on TV with Gorgon wandering around Kirkcaldy with Sam Cooke or Otis Redding’s ‘A Change is Gonna Come’ as the accompaniment.

I was born by the river in a little tent
Oh and just like the river I've been running ever since
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

It's been too hard living but I'm afraid to die
Cause I don't know what's up there beyond the sky
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

There been times that I thought I couldn't last for long
But now I think I'm able to carry on
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

ha, ha, I don't think he's got the soul for it somehow. A great song though, Sam Cooke being unusually political.
