Staying C of E

The Meditation was excellent, and vastly exceeded my expectations. The only thing we didn't do was the mantra! There's no question I'm going to keep it up and make it a part of my daily life. Mrs. H and I are planning a trip to Samye Ling the Buddhist centre in the Scottish Borders, not that I'm thinking of becoming a Buddhist I'm happy with C of E, I just like much of what they're about.

You know, Richard, I'm seeing another parallel. I am a practicing Roman Catholic, but I also am a follower of the philosophy of Buddha. Buddha never set out to create a religion, just to find a cure for human suffering. A philosophy like Buddha's does not contradict a religion like Christianity. The two work perfectly together. I have attempted to follow the Four Noble Truths and Eightfold Path in my daily life as closely as I try to follow the teachings of Jesus. They do not contradict in the slightest.

Excellent observation.

I pray the rosary realizing it's a form of meditation and prayer. The aspect of Buddhism that I like is the emphasis on removing human wants as they are the source of great suffering and living a life which does no harm to others. It is a good counter-balance to today's materialistic, 'gotta have it!' culture.
