Rhubarb

It's a big day in the Borders - our first rhubarb! My wife cooked the first few stems with a little rose water and sugar and this morning I had it with homemade yoghurt and granola - nothing better. Every time I eat rhubarb I'm reminded of a friend that we knew when we lived in Sussex. One day her eighty something mother dropped in and our friend said to her.
"Mummy would you like some rhubarb from the garden?"
" Oh no dear. Rhubarb is such a common fruit."
