Don't Mess with Scotland
When first I moved to Texas to live in the Eighties I'd be diving along the freeway where I regularly saw signs in the rear windows of cars or on the back of pick-up trucks, usually with a gun across the rear window, with a Texan flag and the words 'Don't Mess With Texas'. It took a while for me to find out that these had nothing to do with a re-run of the Alamo, some sporting event or some other piece of state-sponsored machismo, but was simply urging people to - Keep Texas Tidy. The freeways used to be littered with debris thrown from car windows and this was their attempt to reduce the mess. Perhaps we need something similar in Scotland with the news that over 50 tonnes of litter are dumped on verges in the south-west of the country every month.

How about: "RUBBISH--KEEP IT UNDER YOUR KILT?"
Not a bad idea!
