Borlotti Beans

Last evening the Head Gardener (also known as Mrs H.) brought back these borlotti beans from Polytunnel World. Our cunning plan is to eat what's ready in the garden and work our supper around what we have, rather than what we just dream up and disappear to the supermarket to buy. In the past we've left the belotti beans for longer and then dried them for use in casseroles, but not last night. Mrs. H. remembered a friend mentioning borlotti bean rissotto so she made up a recipe; I could see it involved onion, a small courgette and parmasen cheese and chicken stock, along with the beans. It was absolutely wonderful...actually it was better than that!

I have always liked being able to use at least something from the garden in our cooking at home. We are just getting organised after moving house. I like to joke with the kids that the rabbits will end up as stew one day. They are not appreciative of that one.

Colin, the Italians know a thing or two about cooking rabbits...

sounds creative---and delicious.

I'm thinking we need a new record of the week about now, Richard.

Rob, I look at that every day and think...Rob will remind me again that we need a new record of the week...I'm just finishing a book and then I promise I will do it!

Did find 'Dream Academy' today on vinyl---one of your previous recommendations.

I had beans from a nearby field last night. I don't know what they are called, but I was wondering - does the law about engaging in criminal acquisition apply to neighbouring-beans as well...?

What I want to know is are you on commission from Christopher Rainbow?

Dreamy, I guess it depends on whether they had already been harvested and you were merely 'gleaning'.

Rab, I should be :)

I will get on the case and have a new record this weekend at the latest. I'm just trying to finish a new book....honest Guv!
