It really does seem fabulous, Richard.

Perfection. But what about the midges?

Living in the Scottish Borders means we're relatively midge free. In fact Mrs. H. only said that very thing as we were walking the dogs this morning.

Richard, I recently sent some photos of you and Christine's utopia to a former teacher of mine who built his house up in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia.

He wrote to me: "So here I am, sitting here thinking that I have finally found my dream home, a venerable old country estate in the rolling hills of the Blue Ridge Highlands, and then you have to send me that picture of your buddy's house in Scotland!! Damn, Rob, you sure know how to bust old Bo's bubble. That home is fantastic! Beyond my wildest dreams."

I have to agree, having been there. So you see, it's not just you--you really DO live in Paradise!

Take care,
Rob

I only remember midges in the Western Highlands. It is the pesky weather that will get you on days not like the one pictured. Long summer evenings are one of the highlights of Scotland, except if you have young children.

I can just imagine myself sitting there watching the sun go down and chatting with friends :-)

Rob, tell Bo he's welcome any time....as long as he brings his guitar! I went to the Blue Ridge Mountains once and absolutely loved the area.
