Havering On Springwatch Update....

Last evening Mrs H. was overcome with excitement, so much so that a small glass of sherry was required to get her back on something like an even keel. First the baby Barn Owls fledged and left the nest, we think for the first time. Mrs H. is pretty sure there were three, but there were definitely two. She's was chatting on the phone with her sister when one flew by the window and up the lane at about five feet above the ground.....amazing sight. Sorry no pictures!

Then a little later while I was reading and listening to some music she suddenly shouted. "A sparrowhawk just took a small bird out the air and flew under the rhododendron." We had a sneaky look and spotted it ripping the bird apart. We're pretty sure it was a young sparrowhawk. This was all that was left this morning of what we think was a Blue Tit.

Congratulations on the baby owls. Can't wait to see pix if you can get them.
A violent end for the poor Blue Tit.

Hello, ex-BPer. Thought I'd pop in and see how you were.

Mrs Bigrab witnessed a buzzard taking a rabbit in the farmer's field behind our house this very morn!
