You’re the Home Secretary and so you’d obviously use the News of the World to reveal that "We now face a threat level that is severe. It's not getting any less, it's actually growing. There are 2,000 individuals they are monitoring. There are 200 networks. There are 30 active plots. That has increased over the past two years. Since the beginning of 2007, 57 people have been convicted on terrorist plots. Nearly half of those pleaded guilty so this is not some figment of the imagination. It is a real risk and a real issue we need to respond to.”
Of course none of this would have anything to do with the fact that our PM is determined to push through legislation extending the maximum period terrorism suspects can be detained without charge to 42 days. That he’s apparently facing something of a cabinet revolt and a commons revolt as well.
Jacqui Smith our Home Secretary demonstrates none of the characteristics that we need in a politician to fill such an important post. She does however demonstrate all the characteristics of someone who marches to the beat of Gordon’s drum.

Isn't it amazing how the 'Security Threat' always manifests itself, when the Government is in turmoil, and particularly Gordon Brown,
if the opinion polls are accurate.
Jackie Smith is a dope, she should go back to teaching at the local Poly, where she could , just, lecture on 'Diversification in the Wider Political, easy Speak Zone'.
In other words Balderdash!
