The Fendertones Do The Beach Boys....

Now I reckon I know something about the Beach Boys. I've been playing their music for well over forty years, I've seen them in concert in every one of their incarnations and I've worked with them. So when I tell you that if you like the Beach Boys then you should watch this; the very best cover versions of their material I've ever seen or heard. I know little about the Fendertones other than what I've gleaned from here, which is....

The Fendertones is a group of musician friends and family that has been performing together in one form or another since the 60s. Recently the Fendertones staged a series of benefit shows featuring the music of Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys. No details were spared to recreate the sounds of the original recordings. Using period correct instruments, the music featured everything from marimbas and accordians to horns and strings...the keyboardist even built what is most likely the only exact replica of Paul Tanner's electro-Theremin that he played on the original “Good Vibrations”...and many of your favorite sci-fi movies! All of this came together as an incredible show of sight and sound in a tribute to America’s greatest band!

This is awesome...



So is this version of California Girls. The guy has Mike Love's intonation down absolutely pat. He also crucially waits for a demi-second at the start of the song, which is a pivotal moment in the original.
