Grounded?

In the summer of 1967 with The Last Waltz sitting at No.1 for the third week running Engelbert Humperdinck (the artists formerly known as Gerry Dorsey who first recorded for Decca in 1959) bought himself a £2,200 Jaguar but told the press “I still live in my council flat in Hammersmith and have no intentions of moving.”

Famous last words. I think that song is better in French, by Mireille Mathieu.
