There was a report on MSNBC yesterday about Democratic presidential candidate Barak Obama visiting Fairfield, Iowa, which is the home of a Transcedental Meditation University. While there, Barak talked about how we worry about a budget deficit but need to worry also about an empathy deficit. The commentator opined that it sounded like they were all smoking weed and dismissed Barak's comment as possibly weed-induced.
I think this shows a lack of empathy.
There is much to be said for meditation. There are many forms of it, in most religions. Buddhists use it to reach an inner peace, and Catholics pray the rosary.
Enjoy the class and tell how it went.
