Earth's Cry, Heaven's Smile
The European Space Agency had a contest for a play list to send into space with their astronauts on the International Space Station. The winner is 14-year-old Therese Miljeteig from Norway. Her choices will be sent on an MP3 player (an iPod?) to the International Space Station on board ESA’s Automated Transfer Vehicle in early 2008. This is the list.
Here Comes The Sun – The Beatles
Come Fly With Me – Frank Sinatra
Rocket Man – Elton John
Up Where We Belong – Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes
Imagine – John Lennon
Flashdance... What A Feeling – Irene Cara
Walk of Life – Dire Straits
Fly – Celine Dion
Rockin' All Over The World – Status Quo
I Believe I Can Fly – R Kelly
What would I have chosen?
Expecting To Fly • Buffalo Springfield
Joybringer • Manfred Mann's Earthband
Have You Seen The Stars Tonite • Jefferson Starship
Something In The Air • Thunderclap Newman
Outta Space • Billy Preston
Clear Air For Miles • Acoustic Alchemy
Space Oddity • David Bowie
Space Cowboy • The Steve Miller Band
A Spaceman came travelling • Chris de Burgh
Europa (Earth's cry, heaven's smile) • Santana
The last one is not so obvious but if you have it, play it and imagine shots of earth from space - it works for me.

Didn't Nilsson do a song 'I'm a Spaceman'?

Ian, you're right. I shameful oversight!
I'm off to look out my Michael Moorcock books and put on Space Ritual to play along while I read.
