I got my regular weekly mailing from itunes last night. This is what it had to say about Linkin Park.
After 14 months and about 150 demo songs, producer Rick Rubin and Linkin Park have finally emerged from the studio with their first album in four years. Minutes to Midnight marks their departure from the nu-metal/rap-rock sound they're known for. With help from an assortment of banjos, marimbas and vintage guitars and amps, they've transformed their sound into a pleasing blend of punk, hip-hop and classic rock
This, apparently, is meant to be good. I'm still trying to get my head around a 'pleasing blend of punk, hip-hop and classic rock'

My son is a big Linkin Park fan, and had me listen to this album. It's very good. They are an odd mix, partly because one of their guys is more of a rapper and the other is more of a rocker. The overall result is indeed very eclectic and interesting. You can hear the hip-hop (more of a rap), heavy metal and classic rock alluded to on itunes.
I ended up putting it on my mp3.

The downside of not having a young person in the hosue is that I probably do miss out on some new music. The downside for the young person, who is not here, is that they miss out on my Caravan albums!
