Let There Be (Less) Light
Having been away I was catching up with last week's Scotsman and came across an article about the Church of Scotland condemning nuclear power stations and suggesting we all use renewable energy. Now apart from the obvious, what's it to do with them - apart from the fact we're all entitled to an opinion of the subject it raised another issue. Their report claimed it would be possible to meet UK energy needs through a combination of cutting use and harnessing wind, tidal and solar sources. When it comes to saving electricity perhaps the C of S should start withthe lights that burn bright nightly at Cranshaws Kirk. If these were turned off it would have two positive effects, first the obvious savings and second our light pollution here in the Lammermuir Hills would be considerably reduced.
Just off to drop the Church of Scotland a line....
