Gordon Brown and the Art of Political Necrophilia

Gordon Brown seems to go from one train wreck to another. In an interview with the New Statesman he said that he sees himself as Heathcliff, Emily Bronte's dark, brooding and vengeful character who died a broken man haunted by the ghost of his former lover (Tony B?). Asked if he was similar to the character, he replied "absolutely correct", but he quickly added: "Well, maybe an older Heathcliff, a wiser Heathcliff." I think he must have been thinking of Cliff Richard's musical Heathcliff that closed as Nu-Labour came to power in May 1997.
