She's manufactured pop of a not very high order. If having had a number of hit records is 'services to music' then dozens of pop and rock artists would qualify. The link here is quite clearly to do with having had dinner with the PM and little to do with music.

Somehow it seems to debase the whole process, then again with what's been going on of late between Labour and honours then the whole thing is a bit of a mess.Richard Havershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15309594787689405779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21660941.post-28805886072324301662008-01-03T14:34:00.000+00:002008-01-03T14:34:00.000+00:00and why would you think that she has not served th...and why would you think that she has not served the music industry well?DeeJayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09037527872689174818noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21660941.post-37469733776020156962008-01-02T11:45:00.000+00:002008-01-02T11:45:00.000+00:00Welshcakes, I'm not for one minute casting any asp...Welshcakes, I'm not for one minute casting any aspersions towards KM's fight against cancer but the award was for 'services to music'.Richard Havershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15309594787689405779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21660941.post-54642583306485176562008-01-01T01:09:00.000+00:002008-01-01T01:09:00.000+00:00I don't know about that as K has faced just about ...I don't know about that as K has faced just about the worst thing that can happen to a woman and proved that you can come out of it and still be glamorous.
Anyway, came over to say "Buon anno 2008".Welshcakes Limoncellohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17209759237794290941noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21660941.post-77956376991437333662007-12-31T17:41:00.000+00:002007-12-31T17:41:00.000+00:00Interesting observation Havers. But honours and justice mean little in our time. Indeed, ever since Tim Henman's name was tossed into the ring, one must have doubted its motives, and indeed sanity. Michael Winner refused his MBE with alacrity. His statement to the world remains: “The sort of award they give to toilet-cleaners.“ Tony Blair being interviewed by Scotland Yard detectives over the cash for honours affair made him the first British prime minister to be questioned over a criminal matter while in office. A modest lass in private, Kylie Minogue finds herself accused of profligacy for parading her bottom as a public reproach to more refined minds. But what else could this mildly mischievous and voluptuous creature do in the circumstances of our time? Thrillingly, she dared her worst.

Poor Kylie, she has attempted the hardest thing on earth: rehabilitation.

By contrast, men are admired for some of the very qualities for which women are condemned. The aristocratic Mick Jagger progressed to his “peerage” effortlessly to become Sir Mick. Essentially illiterate, potentially lobotomised, inherently unbalanced and chemically assisted - and here I mean absolutely no offence - his early career was of the type that might have won a serial killer adulation in a court of law. Nor would his acceptance of such honours from “the Enemy” have endeared him to anyone in his own time, but - despite an intense allergy to the Establishment - he was proud of this recognition. It's what they’ve always have done and always will do - drugs, drowning in pools, choking on vomit or making a public exhibitions of themselves.

Honour and justice are satisfied!

DreamySelena Dreamyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11629908887644614404noreply@blogger.com
